Through its annual certification process, All Children - All Families promotes LGBTQ+ inclusive policies and affirming practices among child welfare agencies and celebrates those agencies that are leading the field with innovative approaches to inclusion. Participants gain access to a comprehensive, online self-assessment tool, free webinars on the latest best practices and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. The All Children – All Families national training program offers both foundational material and advanced content tailored for direct service professionals who work with LGBTQ+ children, youth and families. ACAF offers both a Training of Facilitators program to build an agency’s internal training capacity and a 3-part, customizable Training Series for which ACAF's team of Expert Trainers provide training for agency staff.
Research demonstrates the crucial nature of this work. LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented in foster care and too often these young people enter systems that further traumatize them due to a lack of inclusive policies and practices. At the same time, the LGBTQ+ community remains an untapped resource when it comes to finding families for children and youth in foster care. For these reasons, the program supports agencies’ efforts to achieve safety, permanency and well-being by improving practice with LGBTQ+ youth and families.
