For the HEI 2024, we have strengthened the training promotion requirement. See below for the updated requirements for receiving credit. We've also included best practices and other resources to help guide your facility's training promotion.
Do’s (what is required for us to give you credit)
Don'ts (what we won’t accept)
NOTE: We have updated our example flyers and posters that will require you to share your facility’s links to the training options. This update aims to ensure you are actively and accessibly sharing training information.
DON’T send out template flyers as is–while we encourage you to use the templates shared below, your facility’s specific information must be included to receive credit.
DON’T provide links to HRC training pages (provide links directly to the learning platforms and to the flyers on how to register instead).
DON’T submit PDFs or word documents of your training promotion materials– we need to see these in use so send us screenshots of your sent emails/intranet site, etc.
DON’T promote the training only to select groups like ERGs or leadership (promote to all patient-facing staff)
Include all relevant facility-specific information in your promotion materials
Display your facility ID prominently
For system-wide training promotion, create a table to organize all facility IDs in one place
Give background information and the share “why” with your staff
Explain the importance of LGBTQ+ inclusive training
Share your facility’s HEI journey
Take a look at our template language for more inspiration
Using more than one method of training promotion can improve your ability to meet the HEI training requirement (and ensures LGBTQ+ training is being received by staff)
Vary the methods used: send an email blast, place information on your employee training portal/learning center, prominently display information on your facility’s intranet, or include training details in your facility e-newsletter
A one-time promotion may get overlooked, but if you promote the training multiple times (and in different ways) you greatly increase the chances of people seeing it
Use LGBTQ+ awareness days/months as a touchpoint to remind people of the training opportunities
Create an internal due date that works for your staff
Use strong language to encourage that all staff participate in these trainings
Have the email or call to action come from an Executive Leader in the facility
Create a competition between departments for the most training hours completed
Reward staff for completing trainings using prizes or a point system (some systems have staff earn ID badges for their training completions)
To receive CME/CEU and HEI credit for The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center webinars your participants will need to register with The Education Center and create a password. Your staff participants will need to enter your Facility ID number. If this number is not entered when they register, your facility will not receive credit for their participation in the training. You can find your Facility ID number by using this lookup tool. They can go straight to the Education Center’s website to register and log-in under “My Learning.” Click here to download an information sheet with helpful tips on the registration process that you can distribute to your participants to ensure that they receive CME/CEU credit and that your facility receives HEI credit for their participation.
